Creating a Group Set
Creating groups within a course allows for group learning. Groups can be organized into group sets, and multiple group sets can be created to change groups for different assignments or tests. There are two ways to create groups: manually ("Custom") or automatically ("Random Assignment").
Procedure for Creating Groups Manually (Custom)
- Click the [Groups] tab at the top of the course content.
- Click [New Group Set].
- Enter the group set name.
- Expand the [Group Students] list and select Custom. Custom allows you to freely create groups.
- Click ⊕ at the bottom of the page to add a group.
- Change the group name and description as needed.
- Click the […] next to "Unassigned Students" and select the group name you want to register from the list. By selecting multiple students and clicking […], you can assign multiple students to a group at once.
- Once the settings are complete, click [Save].
Procedure for Creating Groups Automatically (Random Assignment)
- Click the [Groups] tab at the top of the course content.
- Click [New Group Set].
- Enter the group set name.
- Expand the [Group Students] list and select Random. Randomly assign: automatically allocates students into the specified number of groups.
- Select the [Number of groups] from the list. The initial setting creates 3 groups, but you can change this as needed.
- The specified number of groups will be created, and students will be randomly assigned. Group names will be created as "New Group X" (X is a number), so click the group name to change it if needed.
- To add a group manually, click ⊕.
- To move a student to a different group, click […], and select the desired group name from the list.
- Once the settings are complete, click [Save].
Completion
The created group set will be displayed in the list.
