[Groups]
The layout of the group management feature has been changed.
When creating a new group set, first select how to configure the groups, and then create the group set.
Bulk group creation
Click the downward triangle ▼ button next to Add group, and then click “Create multiple groups” to display a dialog where you can specify the number of groups to create and create groups in bulk. You can specify a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5,000 groups. After creating the groups, you can change the group names from “Group settings” in the three-dot menu “...” on the right side of each group.
After creating groups, you can register members in the groups using manual assignment, import, and other methods. Select the students to assign in the student list, and click and drag and drop them or click [Assign here] to register them as group members. To move a member, first remove the member from the group, and then register the member again from the student list. The Group Code required for importing can be obtained from [Export groups].
With automatic registration, you can create groups and register members (randomly) by specifying the number of members per group. When using automatic registration, you do not need to create groups in advance. Click [Automatic registration] below the student list to display a dialog where you can specify the number of members per group.
How to manually assign students
- Assign students directly from the unassigned list
- Assign selected students to a specific group
- Add or remove members from within a group
- Assign by dragging and dropping
Sorting
You can sort by the following items.
Students
- First name
- Last name
- Student ID (student number)
Groups
- Group name
- Number of members
Visualizing group configuration and activity details
Each group displays summary information indicating assignments such as tests, assignments, and discussions. Once students begin submitting, warnings and restrictions related to actions gradually increase, allowing instructors to understand the impact before changing or deleting groups.
Other improvements to the group management feature
- Group management for large courses is now faster. While groups are being saved, the saving process continues in the background even if you close the page.
- The limits on the number of students (maximum 5,000) and total number of groups (maximum 1,000) have been removed.
[Base Navigation (Courses): Displaying the To Do List]
When there are courses in which the student is enrolled with the student role, the To Do list is now displayed on the Courses page in Base Navigation. It is not displayed in the Community.
